Our Family Database

Our Family Lines represent the main ancestral groups in our research: Perkins, Sweat, Marsh/Scoggins, Moore, Carmichael, Queen, Cox, and Guy.

Each line begins with the most recent ancestor whose information can be published publicly—this is the starting point for sharing our research, and it allows us to include all ancestors and collateral relatives (relatives such as aunts, uncles, and cousins who are not in the direct line of descent) whose information is available. Living descendants and their immediate family members are not listed to protect privacy.

Note: Certain family members may request a login to access private areas of the site. This access is granted to individuals who are close relatives (such as second cousins and other direct or collateral family members) who can contribute information about both living and deceased relatives. If you are a family member interested in joining, please contact us to request access.

Surname Studies

Our Surname Studies stem from finding others with the same surname living next door to our ancestors on the census. Are they related to us? If so, how? We've created "branches" in our database to track those with the same surname.

Everyone in our database is included in the main tree. We use branches to help organize and label groups of individuals within that tree.

Family Line Branch:

Individuals assigned to this branch have been proven to be related to our main ancestral groups (Perkins, Sweat, Marsh/Scoggins, Moore, Carmichael, Queen, Cox, and Guy). These are the direct ancestors or collateral relatives whose connection to our family is documented.

Surname Study Branch:

Individuals assigned only to this branch (such as the Perkins Surname Study) have not yet been proven to be related to our family. They may share the same surname and could be from the same area or time period as our ancestors, but their connection is not confirmed.

In summary:

If a person is only listed under a Surname Study branch and not the Family Line branch, it means they have not yet been proven to be related to us. Our research continues to explore possible connections and update branch assignments as new evidence is discovered. The link below will take you to our Branches page in our database. To view all of the people in each surname study, click the number under the individuals and it will list everyone included in the study or click the links for a specific surname study.

The surnames listed above are not the only surnames that will appear in this database as there will be many people added. We may be related to Presidents, actors, singers, historical, and other notable persons. They will be included as well. These "famous" people, along with our Mayflower connections will also be noted in another section of this site or you can click the link from here. These will also be in our database as a "branch".
